MODERATE EVIDENCESupplementLast updated
AVELOR SUMMARY
Chamomile contains apigenin (see apigenin.md) plus bisabolol and chamazulene. A 2016 RCT found chamomile extract (1,500mg/day, 8 weeks) significantly reduced generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) symptoms — comparable to mild anxiolytics. Also: improved sleep quality (10-60% depending on study), anti-inflammatory for GI (IBS support), and topical wound healing. Contains coumarin — potential warfarin interaction at high doses. The most consumed herbal tea worldwide with excellent safety profile. Dose: 220-1,500mg extract or 3-5 cups tea.
